Credit Cards With Perks - What's Your Bag?

Credit card issuers are in the business of building their client base. One of the primary strategies is offering perks for consumers for using their particular charge cards. A bit of investigation can turn up multiple offers including reward cards, marijuana addiction mile cards, gas rebate cards and cash rebate cards.

Airline mileage cards are an obvious choice for anyone that travels on a regular basis. This is especially true for business people that get on an airplane on a regular basis. If the card is issued by an airline you will most likely be traveling on that airline with your free miles. This may limit you to some travel destinations. Some airline cards are issued by banks and they will allow you a wider variety of airlines and destinations.

There will always be limitations on airline mileage cards. One of the most important is the expiration date for the mileage. You will usually have one to two years to use your miles. Be sure to know when these miles drop off so you can take full advantage of them.

Blackout dates are another limit that can affect your travel plans. They will be listed in the fine print so be sure to make a note of them. Some of the more aggressive marketers have eliminated blackout dates and will allow travel at any time.

Do you have some extra miles? After you "buy" your ticket, use the extra miles to upgrade to first class. Donepezil have actually exercised this option and it was very enjoyable.

If you are not a frequent traveler then a cash back card may be a better option. The cash can be used for anything. Most issuers will offer a basic 1% on all purchases. Some cards go as high as 25% on specific items and they are usually business cards for business supplies. Business cards seem to be the most generous with their rewards but look at them with your needs in mind. The cash will either come back to you in a check or a as credit on your statement.

Retail reward cards are also a good option if you frequent that particular merchant. The rewards will most likely be limited to that specific merchant.

Gas rebate cards make good sense. Most gas cards are issued by companies such as BP, Shell, etc. Those cards are limited to specific outlets. Since gas is a regular budget item for most families it makes good financial sense to take advantage of this perk.

Choose a card that you will charge goods and services on every month, items that are in your monthly budget. Pay the balance at the end of the month. If you carry a balance then the benefits will be negated by the interest payments. Use your card and the rewards, do not let it use you. Take advantage of the marketing strategy credit card issuers are using to get your business. Select the right card to fit your needs.
