Saving Pets' Lives 101 - Check Out the Red Cross Courses

Can you save a human's life? Do you know how to give CPR? What if you are a nurse or doctor or EMT, have you learned how to save humans Elephant Man animals? Sounds odd, but not too odd. In today's world, more and more people are taking care of their pets in more and more serious ways. And the proof of the pudding are some of the courses that the Red Cross offers.

Most people think of the Red Cross as saving only human Star Trek the Movie But over this past month, many in New York City have seen proof that the Red Cross is interested in animals' lives also. They are very much interested in saving as many lives as possible. Probably when Katrina happened that brought the attention of our nation and our world that pets are important in people's lives. So many of the victims of Katrina stayed behind to be life insurance settlements their animals and so many animals were lost in that natural disaster.

The Red Cross offers Pet First Aid courses to those who wish to take them. Of course there is a fee for these classes. And most times, you will find these courses not far from your own neighborhood. So, what is one of these courses like? Are there live animals there? Are people doing CPR on live animals at these courses?

No, but close. Chocolate room was filled with people and on the floor and in the background there were stuffed animals of all sizes and shapes. When the instructor was giving the lessons, the students could read the material in the books provided. And the instructor demonstrated pet first aid on the stuffed animals. They had even cats and large dogs to demonstrate on.

The course was very informative. And it was fun. This was not a geico auto insurance course. The instructors did the lessons and asked if anyone had any questions. There was also a nice video for breaks in between the talks. At this particular course there was food and refreshments, soda and things like that to make it more festive; though the food was not part of the course, it just made the day more delightful. Yes, it was a catered affair.

Along with the course, as an added plus (not affiliated with the Red Cross) there were three authors present. All three authors had written and published books on the topic of animals and animal interaction with humans. So it all tied in together for a fun, informative and interesting learning experience.

Linda Perry, a published author, creator of genuine, unique television shows that air on Time Warner and on Cablevision in New York City. A warm-hearted individual who gives a voice to those who have been silent all along. This author produces television shows about almost all topics that help people in their lives. Many of the shows are entertainment; some are information and resources and still others are festivals, fiestas, and community events that bring all people together in one place in the city or in the country.
